Good job, Scamboy (or Kugan?) :). I subscribe to your RSS and it's always a pleasure to read your blog. Thanks for sharing the telco news.
By the way, how is Singapore doing in terms of WiMAX? And also, P1 seems to be the ONLY licencees who are taking action in the WiMAX roll-out?
The USB boxes (black and white) that P1 launched, did they develope in Malaysia by Malaysians? If yes, then wow... that's good knowing. :D
Thank you Antmaniac.
I am not sure about Singapore, but Singaporeans won't require Wimax since they don't have problem with broadband access.
The P1 modem is OEM based, and P1 branded. We have not reached that stage yet(Developing Malaysia made modems).
Again, Thank you for your support.
Thanks Scamboy!
Well, maybe Singapore may not have problems with broadband access, but it'll be cool to have a "wireless everywhere" connections with WiMAX, don't you think?
I personally don't think our neighbours at the South would like to be left-out of the new technology when everyone else is testing and conducting trial networks.
Anyway, I was at a conference and the Korean vendor FlyVo mentioned that they tested mobile WiMAX in Singapore's ports. Exactly how far the signal can reach and etc I have no idea. Maybe you know something about it? :)
I don't really keep my self updated on things happening in Singapore.
Hmn, it is true that consumers must be given choices(new technologies like WiMAX), I agree with you.
As as I know, mobile wimax CPE or 2.3ghz equipments are still not certified.
So mobile wimax is going to take 1-2 years to arrive, and this applies to the world.
The devices that P1 is showcasing now are pre-certified wimax devices, it is not standardized yet.
As for Singapore, the regulators there are much better than Malaysia since consumers has choices and broadband access is priced at affordable rates.
From what you have mentioned, looks like WiMAX is arriving Singapore.
Actually, the first mobile WiMAX chip had already been certified, and if I remember correctly, from Sequans.
Whether or not other vendors have made available the certified mobile WiMAX cpe, I am not sure. Looks like they are coming soon. :)
