Telco to take broadband experience to new level
All eyes over the next few years will be on Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), the country’s largest fixed-line phone company, as it is set to take the country’s broadband experience to a new level and transform the nation’s telecommunications infrastructure into the Internet Protocol (IP) era.
By end-2012, 1.3 million homes, offices and factories will be able to get broadband network access for triple-play services (voice, video and Internet), from 10Mbps upwards, thanks to the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) Programme rollout.
With HSBB, businesses can enjoy a more enhanced version of video conferencing, such as TelePresence and their VoIP calls (via Skype or other modes) will also be clearer. HSBB would also facilitate Malaysian businesses and enterprises to further tap into virtual markets and develop a more global customer base with wider reach.
