Nokia X6 32GB at RM2099

It’s a disappointment! Nokia Malaysia has decided to sell the Nokia X6 at RM2,099 in Malaysia, too pricey for a music phone. I would rather get the iPhone or the iTouch at this price.

Some specs of the Nokia X6 32GB:

  • 3.2″ TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colours
  • HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbps
  • Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5
  • 5 MP, 2592×1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, Dual LED flash, video light
  • GPS with A-GPS support; Ovi Maps 3.0
  • Proximity sensor(for auto turn-off), Accelerometer(sensor for auto-rotate)
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with UPnP technology
  • Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • V2.0 microUSB
  • Up to 35 hours of music playback

Hopefully the sibling of the X6 32GB, the new X6 16GB(picture above) will be cheaper since it does not Comes With Music and it has less storage at 16GB.

It's 2099 inclusive of the 1 year subscription of CWM, where you get access to literally millions of songs. I've been using the phone all the while, and have downloaded almost 4,000 songs. Doing some maths to that, it would have cost me over RM10K if I bought the CDs (roughly 267 albums). The jesus-phone iPhone or its brother iPod Touch do not have this advantage, I'd still be downloading so-called high-quality mp3s illegally.

The only drawback is the DRM, but hey, you own the songs forever after 12 months from downloading!
