DiGi is asking for more spectrum
According to a report on TheStar newspaper, DiGi is seeking more spectrum from the Government so it can expand its mobile coverage.
Before that, there is a problem with the article on TheStar. It claims that the 1800MHz frequency is being used for 3G which is wrong as in Malaysia the 1800MHz is used for 2G. It will only be logical if DiGi is asking for more spectrum on the 2100MHz as it is being used for 3G at them moment. I will contact the writer(a friend of mine) to clarify on this matter.
“DiGi has only 4MHz of the 900MHz spectrum band while its rivals, Celcom Axiata Bhd and Maxis Communications Bhd, have 34MHz and 32MHz respectively.”
“It is said that 91,000 iPhones had been sold in the country since March last year. “The iPhone is a nice interface to the Internet. If you really want Internet, you need the network, content and (right) handset. Smartphones are going to be important (as they are) Internet user-friendly,’’
