Five new Android phones from Maxis, Android market to be available soon

5 new Android phones will be available from Maxis starting 1st May 2010:

The phones above are available at a cheaper price(as low as RM799) if you sign up for a postpaid+data plan and a 12-months contract.

In the FAQ section, Maxis said:

“Maxis wants to offer the complete range of smartphones to customers in Malaysia, along with the soon-to-be launched Android™ Market. (app store)

However no date of the launch where mentioned.  Malaysians can download nearly 60 percent of all apps in the Android market for free, so it wouldn’t make much difference when paid apps are made available.

Data plan of 3GB is too little.Look at Singapore telcos offering 12GB.That is what we call data plan.Unless Maxis network is like AT&T where due to the iphone heavy data, the network is being bog down.If not Maxis should offer a higher data plan. With 3GB of data plan, don't think it will move the android phones out of maxis store fast.

better if maxis could bring Nexus One hehe..

by the way, in term of quota 3GB is not sufficient because android is design for multimedia rich content surfing (the browser support flash), video streaming from youtube, etc.

one more thing, android is synonym with google product. we have google maps, google navigator, street view, gmail, google earth, google goggles, gtalk, etc. all these apps require huge bandwidth (for example , just imagine to load maps when u enable GPS)

however, 3GB is enough if you simply use it for light surfing, chatting, etc.

IMHO, Maxis should bring Motorola Defy or Droid X, instead of Milestone.
