Say something about your broadband service!

Everyone in Malaysia has something to say about the broadband service in this country.

Over the past few years, many people have tried to change this- Improve our broadband experience, but most of them have failed. Because if you ask 9 out of 10 people down the road today, they will either tell you the service is bad(Warning, you may hear some bad words) or they might say it is expensive…

So this is one of the initiative that I have taken(together with a few friends of mine), I’m calling all broadband users out there to talk about your broadband service, regardless if is positive or negative.

Use the tag “#bugmy” in Twitter and Facebook. Write/Blog about your broadband experience(email me the link) and spread the word. Also share this post to Facebook/Twitter via the Share/Save button at the bottom of this post.

If you demand a better broadband service, the time is now. Support this initiative(which I will reveal more later) and let’s have one last hope on this.

I need your support, please don’t let me standalone.

Let’s make this happen!

Kugan

P.s: If you think you can help out other than spreading the news(example: cash, web/graphic design, ideas, other resources), drop me an email- malaysianwireless@gmail.com

Please do me another favour-I hope everyone of you could write a  comment on this post, it will be extremely useful for sponsorship(later).

    I want a broadband service that is reliable. Stability is more important than speed, cause I don't want to fight with my loved ones. When the lines drop unexpectedly, my messages never go through, and that causes fights.

    I want a stable broadband service that doesn't penalise me for creating and uploading content. I want a stable broadband that lets me backup my stuff online and download music I love. Writing I enjoy. Videos that are precious to me.

    I want a broadband service that actually lets me communicate, DAMNIT!

    lower price and quality service

    I have been waiting for this for a very-very long time!

    4 WiMax operators, 4 3G operators, TM, TimedotCom, Jaring…There are about 20 ISPs in Malaysia….

  • yesimastudent

    1)reliable, stable and affordable.

    2)bigger bandwidth cap for mobile internet (3G). like 15-25GB. don't talk about being fair to others since most operator now charge for extra usage. before this they do capping to ensure fair usage among subscribers.

    3)unlimited usage for ADSL,FTTH, Wimax and LTE.

    4)price should be affordable for everyone. thinking about students. most of them don't have income but they do rely on internet very much to do assignment etc. students actually help on the increases number of subscribers in Malaysia.

    i fully agree with above comments … the key word is Stability …
    as more and more we all living in the big city are more likely to gone wireless broadband rather then Fix Line broadband service.

    in the pass 2 to 5 years … yes we use Fix Line more. but nowadays in city lifestyle … mobile broadband demand has rise dramatically. though … operator are facing a lot of issue to maintain the STABILITY.

    and location of usage (user concentration) of wireless broadband is also play a vital roles.

    as user base growth … operator MUST upgrade their tower/capacity. by the way operator should this job before the traffic become Jam pack.

    sadly in this case, many of the operator is willing to do so and invest more … but due to many obstacle and many local Bandaran or local council , agency here … issue with this and that … telco making effort to upgrade those to address the traffic issue has been delay. consumer in the others hand will Call in / Email in / write blog / made heavy complaint up till MCMC / CFM. . . .

    i assume many normal user out there ( we all read this blog are I.T Tech super savvy ppl :) ) is clueless in all those thing.

    i gonna add one more word for wireless telco. that is “Monitoring of Data Traffic” in each and every telco tower. at least once per month to get the realistic number of user in that area /taman …

    wishing best of luck to all user out there . . . don dream of Singapore and Hong Kong internet speed too much :) cheeeeerrrrr ….

    faster (speed), cheaper (price), bigger/unlimited (bandwith) P/S: What else do you want? #bugmy

  • http://geminianeyes.com Naoko

    Most operators now charge for extra usage? I thought most were going back to capping (like DiGi, which is the only one I know). I know last time Maxis charged for extra usage, but now no.

  • yesimastudent

    really no? but celcom does.. 1GB for RM5, 5GB for RM20. if I don't buy extra bandwidth I can still surf but very slow.

    customer service, experience, billing, coverage, devices, high speed connectivity to the rest of the world(specifically US), and an ISP that do all of these for the sake of consumers not shareholders…

  • http://budak-kom.blogspot.com gie7

    sori..tulisan ingliss saya sangat teruk…broadband kat Malaysia mahal…mereka berpendapatan rendah bawah RM 500 tak dapat nak merasa jalur lebar d mana kerajaan melabur berbilion ringggit…

    akhirnya orang miskin masih ketinggalakan sbb TM dengan sombong kata rm 149 adalah murah. kerajaan seharusnya memecahkan monpoli jalur lebar talian tetap…seharusnya mempercepatkan lesen internet kelajuan tinggi menggunakan saluran elektrik yang d asaskan syarikat dari Malaysia tapi baru nak beoperasi dari dalam negara….

    customer service
    ===
    when the internet service is cheaper, faster, bigger/unlimited, we do NOT need to contact ANY customer service FOREVER

    experience
    ===
    TM is already old, too much experience already…

    billing
    ===
    P1 Wimax is the best billing system. Full stop.

    coverage
    ===
    I have never thought about that. Okay at my home.

    devices
    ===
    aren't they the latest?

    high speed connectivity to the rest of the world(specifically US)
    ===
    therefore, “faster”

    ISP that do all of these for the sake of consumers not shareholders
    ===
    no comment… hihihi…

  • joshuatly

    please archive all #bugmy tweet

  • JQ

    Fast and stable speed. Cheaper price. No monopoly of broadband service.Wireless broadband to be stable,fast and limit to be around 25-30GB and not current 3-6GB. That is not enough when more and more smartphones are around.

  • http://malaysianwireless.com/ Kugan

    Wow…we are all so demanding…–> according to one of the ISP..sorry can't name it..:)

    Go on…what other thoughts?

    How many of you experience slower speed at night or during weekends?

  • JQ

    P1 network is always slow at night and weekends.And we are not demanding.Those are the basic thing a normal ISP should get it done well before selling the service to customers.

  • LEDFreak

    Me! I tried all four 3G ISPs and they are all slow at night and weekends, except for Celcom, which is slow both day and night, weekdays and weekends, you cannot tell the difference (albeit getting HSDPA/3G signal).

    I wonder which ISP said that…

  • goodinternetservice

    What are there to comment? I have been going thru all the forum sites about how bad the internet broadband service is in Malaysia. Some of the comments dated back from year 2007.
    As you can see no matter how many comments we made is no use if the government is not going to do anything. I think the government do not know what to do with problems that the subscribers is facing.
    So we need a solution and then tell or suggest to the government what to do, as I believe the current PM likes the citizen to give alternatives solutions or constructive suggestion that works.

    i believe all ISP including Wireless provider are keen to upgrade and to expand in term coverage, capacity, quality, etc as much as they can and possible.

    yes i agree with many comment said our land line … fix line and major capacity owner is been DOMINANT by one large company. certainly others operator need those capacity and freedom to develop. it is indeed unfair to others operator … Yello and Green operator have the MONEY to pump into market … but Blue company not allow in some way …

    overall need to be improve … from Regulator in this case MCMC/SKMM, to last mile that we all user, yes we been allocate 3GB or 6GB … but as check and review … some i repeat SOME Malaysian are toooooooo over … can hit 30GB. come on … Wireless means to be light usage … and DOES NOT means to FUlly replace ur fix line broadband … pls be more considerate and it is not u the only use the WIRELESS network … u Hogg the network today, some day some how fellows user on the same network will hogg back to u and u will have Super slow speed …

    Peace … i don typing here to hurt anyone … it is indeed some how reality. . .

    PS i believe many others operator also read this Blog … just happen to be one get feedback to Kugan … :) so keep posting … and Telco and serv provider … eake up … or should i say Gov wake up ? :)

    I am a UK expat and have been travelling in Malaysia for the last month and signed up to Celcom mobile boroadband package as soon as I arrived in JB from Singapore.

    I have been struggling with the on/off nature of the Celcom 3G service for that month and am glad to find (in this post) that it is not my PC (or my imagination!). Frankly the service is appalling.

    I get download speeds (general web activity not MP3 downloads) of anywhere between 500B/S and 60Kb/S – THEN periods when the network delivers ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for seconds or even 10's of seconds. It s clearly stretched to breaking point!

    I got better and more consistent 3G/HSDPA in Vietnam – and that is an indictment of the Celcom product. I loved my time in Malaysia – it is a great country – but as far as my experience as a tourist have Celcom let you down seriously. They are taking “money for old rope” from their subscribers.

    Lately it seems the Maxis 3G service is getting quite decent speed, clocking average of 1.5mbps on Speedtest.net app on iPhones. Testing nearly +2.0mbps inside Hilton, Renaissance hotels, in the daytime in a conference too…. sometimes, its so fast that I stop using the cheapo free WiFi at Starbucks.

  • Chavsraul

    celcom's new basic plans is very disappointing.

    basic plan volume cap is now 3GB only. it used to be 5GB.
    how can they make changes just like that.
