DiGi MiFi, portable WiFi on the go

I talked about Maxis mobile WiFi hotspot 3 days back and today DiGi has launched a similar device called MiFi.

Its not available yet but DiGi has started accepting pre-orders until 20 June 2010. Yet I’m not sure why is DiGi calling it “Malaysia’s First Ever Mobile Wi-Fi (MiFi)” when you can’t get your hands on it for the moment. Also no pricing details were revealed.

    ^^ That just plain sucks.

I suggest if anyone here using Windows 7 to try Connectify instead

Doesn't make sense. Why can't it work with Mac OS X? It's just tethering off the DiGi 3G on the go and on the fly via Wi-Fi. I don't see anyhow why can't it work with Macs and iPhones (yea, it's running a mobile version based on the Mac OS X kernel)

Hmmm quite sceptical on Digi. Just seems like a marketing ploy.

Not really cool lohh if cannot get now .. my friend told me Maxis will sell physical stocks next week … not sure if true oso …

But I have an iPad and definitely wants to be the first to get my hands on this .. my safest bet would be Maxis as they are always first to launch

i would hold out knowing how Digi always gives more for less (think iPhone plans)…

via Wi-Fi, it supports Mac OSX, but not via plug & play…
not using tethering technology but the MiFi uses the connection manager for plug & play…

I think they're doing this because they're the latecomers to the iphone market and the iphone 4G is gonna be announced in like 1 day or so. They have to get more subscribers to their plans right now. It's do or die for them.
