Maxis will offer iPhone 4

Good news! Maxis have confirmed that it will bring the upcoming iPhone 4 to Malaysia.

However the sad news is that Maxis did not say when. In a statement to the media, Maxis said:

“Maxis Berhad will launch iPhone 4, the thinnest smartphone in the world with the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, in Malaysia in the coming months. “

In the US, AT&T will retail the iPhone 4 at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB. Apple said that the new phone will be available in 88 countries by September. No news from DiGi yet.

Hi Kugan, just to confirm. Is the iphone video call only capable when through wifi cos I do not understand when steve mention only can possible when using wifi network. So when maxis bring in the iphone 4, will we be able to do video call through 3G network?

meaning when you need to do video call…both party need to use wifi as connection method. The apps or video call didn't use 3G network for connection.

This is likely related to certain limitation on AT&T….we can only hope ….for international version, they enable this. Because Steve did said clearly ….for NOW its WIFI only. Meaning it have to do with firmware and network. AT&T already struggling with data only connection. With Apple bringing video call in….people will get excited in the beginning and it will jam up the network more.

The HW should have everything in place. I believe they just have to wait for AT&T to fix their network issue then eventually you get video call over 3G.

yeah, video call is only now possible between an iphone 4 on wifi and another iphone 4 on wifi. so this means it wont work over 3g or gprs/wap networks. apple wont launch the full works at one go, else there's no reason for an handset upgrade in 2011. that's business…

may i know what do you all think about iphone 4 antenna issue? i mean as a user….

  • Knzlsdnbhd

i think that the engineers in Apple did not really checked the phone design properly before they released…so even if apples gives us a special casing to prevent from the signal from depleting, it is not worth buying yet…so my advise to you is, if you want to get the iphone 4 give it a few months to settle down 1st.then only you decide weather to get it or not..and from my prespective i am dissapointed with apple making such a mistake..
