U Mobile is married to DiGi, but it wants Celcom

There’s no problem in the title. U Mobile signed an exclusive domestic roaming agreement with DiGi late last year, that include voice and data on DiGi’s 2G network.

At that time, U Mobile had an existing agreement with Celcom and they could not tell when the roaming on DiGi’s network will the effect. While the exclusive agreement with DiGi was never canceled/terminated officially, U Mobile renewed their contract with Celcom which took effect in July 2010 and was only announced last week.

Malaysian Wireless has requested a response from U Mobile regarding this matter, but at the point of writing U Mobile has failed to respond.  Celcom decided to not comment at all. When asked to verify the latest agreement with U Mobile, Celcom’s corporate communication department did not want to verify their agreement with U Mobile. As for DiGi, I’m hoping that they will respond today.

The latest 3-year domestic roaming agreement with Celcom includes voice and data but U Mobile did not mention when the data service will be available to their subscribers on the Celcom 2G network.

If you are a U Mobile customers, I strongly recommend that you switch service provider for a better coverage, services and price, unless you like being pushed around between 3 different operators.

Celcom must have drop their wholesale price in order to maintain U Mobile this customer..I am sure DiGi will announce something on this.. hmm… roam either on Celcom or DiGi is nothing different to the users.. at the end, it’s still U Mobile service quality..so no pushing here and there…

Clearly Celcom win the deal with slash of wholesales price of voice and sms.. Check out the new UMobile prepaid rate.. means Celcom offer voice per min to carry UMobile traffic for less than RM0.18 per min! If DiGi can offer, definitely will win this deal.

However, Celcom 2G data is bad, everybody knows that…
