P1 Home Pro subscribers get free double speed upgrade

P1 has announced yesterday that it is giving a FREE speed upgrade from 2.4Mbps to 4.8Mbps to all new and existing Home Pro subscribers- That’s a New Year gift from P1 4G.

Take note that fair usage threshold for the Home Pro package is 30GB a month(used to be 40GB) and the monthly fee is RM139 (used to be RM199).

If you look at the latest speedtest report in Mobile World Magazine(Jan 2011), you will notice that the average actual speed on the P1 4G network is only between 1-3Mbps, no speed improvement since 2009.

More details on the new offer/speed upgrade, read after the jump.

I signed up P1 1.2 mbps in may 2010 in Kampar, Perak. To share with you, the speed suck and worst than streamyx 1.0 mbps most of the time.. regretted & cannot cancel this service but still need to pay for the next 24 months.. i do not mind to pay more (P1 1.2mbps @ RM159 & streamyx 1.0 mbps RM90) but we as consumers are taken for a ride. Nothing much we can do now, just wait for the contract to end and get rid of P1 for good. What is the point of giving FREE Double Speed Upgrade if P1 cannot improve the service. Your promotion only good as “Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin’.. UncleJason

dude, i saw on tv ad that the tribunal courts can solve eletronic service matter. maybe you can give it a try, rather than continue a ride for the next 24 months

called P1 a few days back inquiring on the speed upgrade, only download speed is upgraded and upload speed remains at 500kbps. haha not good for wow when a lot of requests coming from your game client. can cause a disconnect.

oh and also, the one at the P1 line told me my account wasn’t upgraded yet (but was in progress) so it seems the speed upgrade is done in batches.
