P1 has 338k subscribers to date, plans to offer HSBB & deploy WiMAX in Sabah

Green Packet announced yesterday at its second quarter financial results briefing that Packet One(P1) has managed to grow its total subscribers to 338,000 as of June 30, 2011. The company aims to secure 450,000 subscribers by year-end.

As for coverage, some 1,083 sites(WiMAX) have been deployed and more than 900 sites are currently in progress. P1 target to to reach 1,600 sites and 55% coverage in Peninsular Malaysia by year-end.

Green Packet said that it hopes to sign a a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telekom Malaysia(TM) this year to offer high speed broadband services (HSBB) to its customers. The company also confirmed that it will deploy WiMAX in Sabah sometime this year.

For its second quarter ended June 30, Green Packet recorded a net loss of RM37.06mil on the back of 42% higher revenue of RM127.8mil.

    Now this is interesting, HSBB for P1 customers, that mean we will have 3 options to choice from TM Unifi, Maxis and Packet 1. Very nice. Get the price and data limit right.

    Good to hear that they are expanding in Sabah. Their coverage is definitel getting wider. Hope they will keep improving standard in the Klang valley itself first though.
