Apple by the Numbers- 2011
Apple has a total of 60,400 full-time employees worldwide according to a 10-K form filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. About 36,000 or around 60 percent works in Apple Stores.

The form for the 2011 fiscal year which ended on 24 September was spotted by Apple Insider, reveals that Apple sold a total of 72.29 million iPhones, 32.39 million iPads and 42.62 million iPods in the 2011. The iPhone accounted for over 40 percent of Apple’s net sales, generating $47 billion in revenue, while iPad revenue generated $20.36bn.
Apple added 40 new stores in the past 12 months- 12 in the US, 28 in the rest of the world and now has 357 stores worldwide. The company recently introduced plans to build a new corporate headquarters, located in Cupertino, California.
There are some $81.6 billion in cash reserves, plus other investments. It spent $933 million on advertising in the period and overall spending grew 37 percent to over $10 billion, up from $7.3 billion the year before.
