Gingerbread takes the lead in Android Distribution
The second Gingerbread release (versions 2.3.3-2.3.7) is now leading the Android distribution with 43.9% market share as of October based on Google’s latest Android versions distribution charts.

As for Froyo(Android 2.2), the previous leader in the Android distribution, is now powering up at least 40.7% Android smartphones out there followed by Android 2.1 Eclair at 10.7%.

The older Android 1.5 Cupcake and 1.6 Donut still account about 2.3% of Android smartphones out there. Android Honeycomb(3.0, 3.1,3.1) are now running on 1.9% of the Android devices.
Google collected these latest data during a 14-day period ending on November 3, 2011.
