Nokia Lumia 800 has battery issues, a fix is coming

Nokia Lumia 800, the first real Windows Phone according to Nokia & Microsoft, has a bug which is related to the battery.

The bug was acknowledged by Nokia- “While the battery itself is fine, a software problem on certain variants is limiting the phone’s ability to access the full battery capacity. We want to stress that this issue has not been found to affect the recently introduced Nokia Lumia 710.”

Users who are using the Nokia Lumia 800 are advised to check their unit by following the steps below:

  1. First, fully charge the battery.
  2. Dial ##634# to access the diagnostics tool.
  3. Accept the disclaimer and then select ‘Battery Status’ from the list of options
  4. If your charge capacity is less than 1000mAh then your Lumia 800 has a battery problem. You may find it is necessary to charge your phone more frequently than normal.

The good news is, not all Lumia 800 has this problem and Nokia said it will fix the battery issue via a software update sometime early 2012. Nokia also said that it can arrange a replacement phone for users who can’t wait for the software fix.
