[Insider] Windows Phone Marketplace available now & Nokia Lumia RRP in Malaysia

Its eight days down the road before the official launching of the Nokia Lumia in Malaysia and there are already a lot of rumours on the Nokia Lumia pricing.

The official retail price of the Nokia Lumia 800 is RM1650 and the Nokia Lumia 710 is priced at RM999. Please ignore the estimated pricing that we revealed previously.

As for Windows Phone Marketplace, we are excited to be the first to reveal that Maxis has enabled it with operator billing. They are “fine tuning” some stuff and it should be available now or soon before the Lumia launch in Malaysia.

With Maxis supporting Windows Phone Marketplace, customers can now purchase from over 60,000 apps and will be charged via the Maxis phone bill. Not sure about DiGi, but we are still checking with Celcom if  it would enable operator billing as well.

No promises but we will try reveal if there are any exciting launch promotion for the Nokia Lumia next week.

[Update1]- Celcom has confirmed to enable operator billing for Windows Phone Marketplace before the Nokia Lumia launch in Malaysia.

    Hi,

Thanks for the news. I just wonder if WP LUMIA phones bought overseas could be easily configured for Malaysian usage? I’m in the UK and intend to buy the LUMIA 800 here. it’s a tad cheaper…

    Cheers.

RM1650 is a terrific price. Can you really buy it cheaper in the UK? I just saw that it costs GBP419 SIM free from Expansys UK. Even if you get a VAT refund of 17% it still works out to RM1719 at an exchange rate of RM4.8 to GBP1. And if you go by the book you would have to pay Malaysian duty (10%) plus SIRIM certification (something like RM100?). And then there’s the problem of warranty claims. Can’t see that it’s worth it unless you’re going to be in the UK for a while and need to use it while you’re there.

terrific price ? Samsung galaxy W at RM900 has higher specs (with front camera) & has so much more value !

only an ignorant fler would buy a this cannot that cannot do windows phone at this stage

higher specs but still lagging? lol

This 2012 Lumia attempt to break into the smartphone market dominated by iphone & Samsung is simply a letdown.

I see no advantages Lumia 800 has over the current high flyers, instead the heavy rectangular slab seems like stuck in 2010.

Sorry Nokia, you have a serious problem

I bet you haven’t played with WP7 yet.

not to forget battery life for about what? 3 hours only?

        • http://twitter.com/martinohsk Martin Oh

Why bring up the Samsung at all? I’m not interested in comparing with Android or any other phones. Just comparing the price of Lumia 800 in Malaysia vs UK, get it?
