Altel, the latest mobile operator in town, has soft-launched its mobile service in partnership with Celcom. Altel is currently available as a prepaid service offering voice, sms & data/Internet.
The Altel starter pack is priced at RM7 each and comes pre-loaded with RM5 worth of airtime credit. It comes with a 30 days of validity upon successful activation. Voice call is charged 16 sen per minute(60sec block), 5 sen per SMS, 25 sen per MMS and 5 sen per MB(minimum for each session). Friend & Family is limited to 8 people, the rates are 8sen/min & 2sen/SMS.
Reload denominations are priced at RM5(5days), RM10(10days), RM30(60days) and RM50(90days).

Altel is currently riding on Celcom’s 3G & 2G network as Mobile Virtual Network Operator(MVNO). According to a recent media report, Altel is expected to launch a joint LTE network with Celcom sometime December.
It expects to have 500 LTE radio base stations in the first year and 2,100 in the third year of operations. The radio base stations will be a combination of stations built by Altel and collaborations with other players.
