Local mobile application developer, JustMobile Sdn Bhd has announced a new smartphone app called MySOS, a must have app for Malaysians.

With the MY S.O.S app, smartphone users can now access a variety and detailed list of emergency contact numbers, such as funeral services, the various government departments, hotels, taxi services, hospitals, cinemas, banks, highway breakdowns, the general line of nearby police stations, general complaint telephone numbers that covers electricity and water cut, potholes on roads, water pipe leakages, and so forth. 200,000 UniFi Customers

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) that its High Speed Broadband (HSBB) service, UniFi now has a total subscriber base of 200,000 nationwide, passing the mark set for year-end target.

UniFi is currently available at 77 exchange areas with more than 1.09 million premises passed. The areas include the 61 in the Inner Klang Valley as well as Nusajaya in Iskandar Malaysia and industrial areas around the country including 8 in Johor, 3 in Penang, 2 in Kedah, 1 in Perak, 1 in Negeri Sembilan and 1 in Melaka.

TM said it is on track to increase the UniFi service coverage to a total of 78 exchange areas covering 1.1 million premises passed by end of 2011 and 1.3 million premises passed by the end of 2012. [...]

Indonesians 1st to get BlackBerry Bold 9790

Indonesia will be to first country in the world to get the BlackBerry Bold 9790 before it starts shipping to other countries. Announced last week in Indonesia, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 goes on sale in Indonesia starting November 25 for an estimated retail price of RM1638.(Rp. 4.599.000).

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 runs BlackBerry 7 OS, along with a 1GHz processor. It has 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage & supports micro SD card up to 32GB. The touchscreen is 2.45″ capacitive display with 246 dpi resolution. Full specifications here.

Adobe Flash Player don’t work on Android 4.0, yet

The latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) does not run Adobe Flash, for now. Adobe Flash has yet to support the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which runs on the latest Android operating system.

Free Online Education Service from Maxis & The Ministry of Education Malaysia

Samsung is again teaming-up with Hugo Boss- this time they announced the Samsung Galaxy Ace Hugo Boss edition. Both companies introduced the Samsung F480 Hugo Boss Edition in the last collaboration.

The “Hugo Boss” customized Samsung Galaxy Ace comes with a matte black finish and back cover embellished with original designs from Hugo Boss. It will also include wallpapers and music that help distinguish the tailored version from the classic Samsung Ace.

Short Supply in iPhone 4S

Its been about 6 weeks since iPhone 4S becomes available, the three US mobile operators(AT&T, Sprint & Verizon) are struggling to keep up with demand for Apple’s fifth smartphone.

According to a report, US customers will have to wait more than 3 weeks for the iPhone 4S which launched in the U.S. and six other countries on October 14.

Verizon customers may have to wait up to 3-weeks for the iPhone 4S compared to 21 days at AT&T and up to 14 days at Sprint Nextel.

“We are having some supply issues in the sense that demand’s huge,” AT&T’s president of emerging devices, Glenn Lurie, said. “We have had just record-breaking sales on it.” [...]

DiGi Gmail SMS

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) today announced its partnership with Google to offer Gmail SMS, a service that allows non-smartphone users to use Gmail services.

Google’s Gmail SMS is a service that allows Gmail users to send text messages to their friends on mobile phone. Replies and responses to the text message will appear as a reply in Chat.

For selected DiGi customers, the service requires no subscription; chat messages sent via SMS from their mobile phones are billed at RM0.10 per SMS. Unfortunately the service is not available for DiGi port-in customers(012,019,017,018,013). [...]

Upcoming Symbian OS: Symbian Carla followed by Symbian Donna

Nokia is working on the upcoming Symbian OS. Symbian Carla will be released in late 2012 or early 2013 followed by Symbian Donna about a year later.

Symbian Carla is intended for smartphones with a 1GHz processor or higher and is set to introduce a new version of the Nokia browser, version 8.  There’s also new widgets, more NFC capabilities and support for Dolby Surround sound. Unfortunately due to the minimum processor requirement, it means that all the Symbian^3 and Symbian Anna handsets (N8, C6-01, C7, E7, E6, X7-00) are not going to get this update. [...]
