U Mobile Prepaid Plan Refreshed

U Mobile has refreshed their current prepaid plan. New U Mobile prepaid users now can enjoy SMS for free in addition to the current Free Calls within the U Mobile network.

Every RM 1 top up will allow subscribers to be eligible for 1 Day of Free SMS. To get 20 free SMS, all users need to do is use 6 SMS in a day. However the free SMS promotion is not applicable to current U Mobile prepaid subscribers.

As for the Free Calls, new U Mobile Prepaid subscribers will not be charged for calls within the network from 12:00am to 6:59:59pm, up to maximum free 60 minutes daily. For users who exceed the free 6o minutes or calls during 7pm – 11.59pm, call chargers of 3 cents every 30 seconds(9sen/min) applies. Current U Mobile Prepaid subscribers will continue to enjoy the free calls all day long subject to a maximum 60 minutes a day. [...]

Nokia Belle update to start in February

Nokia announced that it will roll out the Nokia Belle operating system update(previously known as Symbian Belle) starting February.

Launched earlier this year with Nokia 701, Nokia 700 and Nokia 603 smartphone, the Nokia Belle will be available as a software update for the following devices- Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, Nokia 500 and Nokia Oro. [Insider] iPad 3 is coming to Malaysia

A lot of people are excited as they expect Apple to release new products this year including iPad 3, iPhone 5, new Mac models besides several other products. One thing that is being awaited most impatiently is the next generation iPad. The rumor calls it iPad 3.

PR1.2 update coming to Nokia N9

Nokia last released a PR1.1 update for its Meego flagship device, the Nokia N9 last November. Now it appears that a new PR1.2 update is on its way.

Tamerbatar, a Talk Maemo forum member who managed to get the update revealed some screenshots of the PR1.2. Based on the changelog, the update comes with video calling support, app folders, improvements for the camera and gallery. [...]

Skype for Windows Phone coming soon

Microsoft appears to be working on Skype app with deep Window Phone integration. Skype’s VP of products, Rick Osterloh, revealed that Microsoft’s Skype division is “working on a Windows Phone product that will be coming out soon,” during an interview at CES 2012.

Based on unconfirmed reports, Skype integration in Windows Phone will arrive with Appolo, which is the next major version of Windows Phone. However Microsoft could still release release a Skype app for the platform through the Windows Marketplace for supported Windows Phone 7 devices.

Galaxy Tab 7.0N Plus from Samsung

Looks like another Galaxy Tab tablet is coming from Samsung despite Apple trying very hard to put a stop to it. Samsung has revealed its brand new Galaxy Tab 7.0N Plus which is scheduled to be released end January 2012.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0N Plus will ship with Android 3.2 HoneyComb but it will upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later. The tablet has a 7-inch PLS-LCD display at WSVGA resolution or 1024 x 600 pixels. The Galaxy Tab 7.0N weighs in at 345g, has 16GB of internal memory, and has a microSDHC slot to expand memory by up to 32GB. The battery inside this device is a massive 4000mAh, comes with Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, and HSPA. [...]

iPhone 4S out of stock in China, sales halted

Apple halted the sale of iPhone 4S from its stores in China after large crowds disrupted the launch. One of its five retail outlets in the country, in the Sanlitun area of Beijing, did not even open on Friday at 07:00 local time as advertised.

The large crowd which began gathering outside of Apple stores overnight in sub-freezing weather got angry after they were told around 7am that the phones would not go on sale as planned and that they should go home. Police outside Apple store in Beijing Police were there to contain the crowd of about 500 people at the Sanlitun store. [...]

LG becomes the 11th Android OEM to pay royalties to Microsoft

Electronics giant LG becomes the 11th Android OEM to sign a licensing agreement with Microsoft. Under the agreement LG will have to pay royalties to Microsoft to access its IP portfolio for all of LG’s tablets, phones and “other consumer devices” which run either Android or Chrome OS.

So far, major Android OEMs such as HTC, Samsung and Acer have signed similar agreement with Microsoft. With the latest agreement, it leaves out only Motorola, one of the big Google Android players that has not signed such agreement yet. [...]

Dell Tablets for the Consumers later this year

It doesn’t stop Dell from continuing its tablet business despite poor sales record of its Streak tablet and heavy competition in the increasingly crowded market. Companies like HP pulled out from the business while BlackBerry is struggling to keep up its PlayBook sales but Dell seems to be working on tablet for the consumers which is expected later this year.

“We have been taking our time. The general failure of everyone that’s tried to introduce a tablet outside of Apple” suggested Dell made a prudent choice, you will see us enter this market in a bigger way toward the end of the year. So we are not really deemphasizing it, we are really being very careful how we enter it.” chief commercial officer Steve Felice told Reuters at the Consumer Electronics Show in US. [...]

Lenovo K800 powered by Intel Medfield Chip

Lenovo showcased its new K800 Android smartphone at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012. The Lenovo K800 is the 1st in the world to run on Intel’s Medfield chipset.

The K800 is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 CPU/Medfield with 512MB L2 cache. It will run Android 4.0 although the demo version at CES was running Android 2.3.7. It has 4.5-inch 720p HD TFT display, an 8-megapixel camera, a WCDMA HSPA+ 21Mbps wireless radio, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and GPS onboard. [...]
