Note: Please refer the previous post- Update 4: [Insider] Pre-Order Celcom iPhone 4S soon.

As we said before, chances of Celcom starting the iPhone 4S pre-order was difficult without revealing the price. Instead, Celcom allowed customers to pre-register for the iPhone 4S and the launch event will take place at La Bodega, Bangsar Shopping Center. Similar to Maxis, Celcom will allow customers to choose their “time slot” to purchase the iPhone 4S. The event start 9PM, details here.

We want to be the 1st to leak this information- Customer will be able to purchase the iPhone 4S 16GB from Celcom for as low as RM558 with the Celcom Exec i248 postpaid plan on a 24-months contract. [...]

Update 4: [Insider] Maxis iPhone 4S

Update 1, 9.55pm(Dec 8): Within the next few minutes/hour, users who have registered their interest for the Maxis iPhone 4S will receive an email that would allow them to book their spots for the next Friday launch(Dec 16). No iPhone 4S plan or pricing will be revealed yet. When this happens, it makes Maxis the 1st to allow customers to pre-order the iPhone 4S in Malaysia. To know why no pricing is revealed, visit our Facebook page.

Update 2, 11.35pm(Dec 8): Based on update 1, we are not sure how fast it will happen, but we believe Maxis will start the pre-order before Celcom. Serious stuff aside: We just made fun of our friend at Maxis for not telling us anything earlier..:)

Update 3, 12.40am(Dec 9): Maxis is blasting out this email to 100k people, so be patience. In the mean time:

Update 4, 12.49am(Dec 9): This is how the landing page will look like:

________________________________________________________________

The Maxis iPhone 4S registration of interest page is expected to be taken down any time now.

In the mean time we have been tipped that between 100-150k people have expressed interest to purchase the Maxis iPhone 4S!

The Maxis iPhone 4S grand launch will take place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center(KLCC) on December 16. A check with some friends at KLCC showed that Maxis booked the entire ground floor of KLCC, both wings.

More updates below. [...]

Update 4: [Insider] Pre-Order Celcom iPhone 4S soon

Update 1, 10.25am(8 Dec)- Celcom iPhone 4S online pre-order scheduled to begin midnight 9 Dec 2011.

Update 2, 10.30am(8 Dec)- Celcom booked The Streets, Pavillion for the December 16 iPhone 4S launch.

Update 3, 10.15pm(8 Dec)- There’s high chances that Celcom might cancel their pre-order plans for the iPhone 4S midnight today. This is because they failed to get approval from Apple on the iPhone 4S plans and pricing. Even if Celcom execute the pre-order, it will happen without revealing their plans & pricing. Or Celcom can follow what Maxis is doing for pre-order here.

Update 4, 11.20pm(9 Dec)- You can now pre-register for Celcom iPhone 4S. As we said before, Celcom might not take any pre-order and reveal the pricing. However we were wrong about Celcom and Pavillion. The correct venue is La Bodega at Bangsar Shopping Center. But the BIG question here is how Celcom is going to cope with thousands of customers at this new venue. Pre-register Celcom iPhone 4S here.

Celcom Axiata will start accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 4S very soon(we are expecting this week), unfortunately the iPhone 4GS won’t be AVAILABLE until December 16.

Maxis and DiGi are expected to follow the same, but we are not sure when they plan to do it. Just to make it clear, no Telcos get to claim that they will be 1st to offer the iPhone 4S in Malaysia. [...]

Carrier IQ logs data for Diagnostic, its not a Keylogger

Last week there have been lots of talk on Carrier IQ. The controversy started when Trevor Eckhart, a 25-year old system administrator discovered Carrier IQ software in one of the HTC devices.

What is Carrier IQ?- Carrier IQ a venture capital-funded startup in Mountain View, Calif., that makes diagnostic software for carriers.

The software was collecting user data, device location, applications data and even logging the keystrokes.

So Trevor Eckhart blog about it and ended up receiving legal threats from Carrier IQ. The company claimed that Eckhart was infringing on their copyright by reproducing some of their training material in his post and if he did not remove the objectionable material and apologize the company will take legal action against him. 14.1 million BlackBerry shipped, Sales of PlayBook down

Sales of the BlackBerry PlayBook continues to fall despite Research in Motion(RIM) selling the PlayBook for about half its original price.

Sales of the PlayBook exceeded 150,000 in the third quarter, down from about 500,000 in the first quarter and 250,000 in the second quarter. RIM claims it has a high level of BlackBerry PlayBook inventory and noted that its promotional pricing has helped sales.

The BlackBerry Playbook went on sale sometime April this year for $499 for the 16GB model. However promotions from various retailers such as in the US and Canada has put the price below $199(RM622). Currently, the 16Gb PlayBook sells for about RM1,133 in Malaysia. [...]
