Samsung S8600 Wave 3 in Global Markets

Samsung Electronics announced that its new Bada flagship, the Samsung S8600 Wave 3 will be available in global markets. It will first launch in France and later will be rolled out to Germany, Italy, Russia and other global markets(possibly Malaysia) within this year.

Announced late August, the Wave 3 has a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, powered by a 1.4GHz processor. All this is encased in a gorgeous 9.9mm thick brushed-metal case.

Panasonic making a comeback with its smartphones outside of Japan

Panasonic is making a comeback with its smartphones outside of Japan after the Japanese consumer electronics giant pulled out of the overseas mobile phone markets in 2006 due to stiff competition.

Yes Go 4G Installer for Ubuntu(Linux)

The world’s fastest 4G service with voice, Yes4G does not support the Linux operating system. Its Yes Go dongle works only on Windows-based PCs and Mac OS.

In January last year, the company that company behind Yes 4G, YTL Communications Sdn Bhd announced the YTL mYprize Global Developer Challenge with up to USD$1 million for grab. The purpose of this challenge is to create applications, content or devices that benefits Yes4G.

With myprize, the WiMAX operator tells the world that it has big plans for the whole Eco-system of applications, content and devices, unfortunately it has yet to make available its Yes4G service to existing platforms, especially for Linux users.

So a Malaysian developer has decided to do Yes4G a favour, for free. Ahmad Fikrizaman wrote a Yes G0 installer for the Ubuntu Linux operating system. [...]

Nokia Siemens cuts 17,000 Jobs

Nokia Siemens Networks(NSN) recently said that it will cut 17,000 jobs globally, or 23% of its work force of 74,000, to save €1 billion ($1.35 billion) in annual costs by 2013.

NSN said it will focus on mobile broadband and services, and aims to divest or “manage for value” units that aren’t central to its plans.

“While we plan to reduce our work force significantly, we will not make simple across-the-board reductions. We will focus on doing what we do best,” CEO, Rajiv Suri said in a conference call Wednesday. He declined to specify which regions would be affected. [...]

Apple has the most loyal mobile users

A recent survey revealed that Apple has the most loyal mobile users compared to Android & BlackBerry.

Some 84 percent of iPhone users said they would pick iPhone again when they replace their smartphone. In comparison, 60 percent Android users and only 48% BlackBerry users will remain loyal to their existing smartphone operating system. [...]

Nokia Lumia 800 sales doing better than we reported earlier

Sales of the Nokia Lumia 800 could be doing better than we previous reported. Now we have some sites claiming that demand for the Nokia Lumia 800 is high compared to what two analysis predicted previously.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the second most popular smartphone in the Vodafone UK website, behind the black iPhone 4S. Similarly the Nokia Lumia 800 the second best-selling smartphone on the online store of the Netherlands carrier KPN. It also had the highest pre-order sales on French phone retailer PhoneHouse.fr. More than 140 million people use Opera Mini

Now more than 140 million people used Opera Mini last month, with usage growing 83 percent in the last year. As of October 2011 Opera Mini usage has doubled eight times since its introduction.

In the newest State of the Mobile Web report from Opera Software, it announced that ten countries in Asia each surpassed one million monthly Opera Mini users- China, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan. [Insider] Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus in Malaysia, 2 weeks time

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will retail for RM1699 in Malaysia, same price as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. So far, we know that Celcom, Maxis and U Mobile are interested to offer this new tablet.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus(P6200) runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb and has a dual core 1.2Ghz Exynos CPU.

It has a 7″ PLS LCD with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. PLS (Plane-to-Line-Switching) LCD technology is said to offer a two fold increase in viewing angles, and 10% brighter image than the iPad’s IPS-LCD.

BlackBerry Malaysia today announced that the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 will be available in Malaysia early December via Brightstar Malaysia.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 runs BlackBerry 7 OS, along with a 1GHz processor. It has 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage & supports micro SD card up to 32GB. The touchscreen is 2.45″ capacitive display with 246 dpi resolution. Full specifications here.

Nokia Lumia 800 Disappointing Sales?

Nokia Lumia 800 is the flagship Windows Mobile Phone for Nokia and the company has been trying hard to convince the world that everyone wants to have it. Nokia recently said that the Lumia 800 broke pre-order records in the UK and demand remains high even after the phone hit shelves.

However Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette disagrees. In a research note, he said that shipments of Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 units in the December quarter could prove disappointing.

“We believe that shipmentsof Nokia’s new Windows Phone 7 products have been lower than we had previously anticipated,” he writes. “We had expected that the company could ship as many as 2 million units into the six targeted markets for the holidays; however, we now believe that those shipments are likely to be less than 1 million for the quarter.” He adds that sell-through checks find “disappointing sales” for the Lumia so far, and that December quarter sales could be under 500,000 units.
