The Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Pikom) expects significantly higher sales at its PC Fair 2007. Last year, it saw sales of RM163mil.
Organising chairman Low Wai Sun said the sales growth would be driven by an increase in the number of locations as well as frequency of the event, especially in rural areas.
“Our focus is not to go after sales during the show. Our main intention is to stimulate the public’s interest in ICT (information and communications technology) products,” he said after the opening of the PC Fair 2007 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre yesterday.
The PC Fair 2007 is being held in 16 locations nationwide compared with 12 last year. The number of exhibitors rose to 799 from 600 last year while the number of booths expanded to 1,131 from 950.
Low said Pikom expected the visitor number to rise 20% this year from 1.3 million last year, especially in rural areas. – Bernama
