Maxis will soon implement SMS antispam system

Maxis will soon implement antispamming and antispoofing solutions which it claims will lower the amount of SMS scams received by its 8.5 million customers by up to 80%.

To be up and running in July, the telco has invested close to RM3.5mil in the technology that would verify the authenticity of the sender before the message reaches the receiver.

The solution features keyword blocking and anti-flooding detection, among others.

According to its general manager and heads of products and infotainment businesses T. Kugan, the solution will automatically scan the message headers in all incoming messages at its gateway, including those from overseas.

Customers will not incur any extra charges nor will they experience any lag in the SMS network, he said.
