New Prepaid service targeted to foreign workers

Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd has collaborated with Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd to provide prepaid service to foreign workers in the country.

According to Bernama, Merchantrade is a network service provider for wartel/call shop with about 4,000 branches nationwide. It currently has about 40,000 subscribers and 300,000 prepaid customers.

Merchantrade, as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), is said to challenge DiGi which has a strong presence in the foreign workers’ market for cellular services in the country.

The Merchantrade Prepaid Mobile Service offers most of the features which Xpax has such as SMS,MMS,GPRS, Call Me Tones, Voice Mail, and even credit transfer.

A flat rate of RM0.38 is charged for calls made to any part of Malaysia(same as the current Xpax Mid Plan).

What makes it different is the super low call rates to international countries. The rates starts from RM0.46 to maximum chargers of RM5.View the complete table here.

The starter pack cost RM7.10 and has a RM3 of preloaded airtime.
