Around two weeks ago, I was given an opportunity to review the new Nokia N77 DVB-H phone.
Thanks to Wom World from UK, a Nokia sponsored resource, providing latest news, comment and feedback on all things about the Nokia Nseries from the world.
The Nokia N77 mobile phone is an excellent mobile TV device that offers you to watch TV broadcast on your mobile phone. The N77 is the second phone from Nokia with DVB-H technology after the Nokia N92.
The phone is 3G capable and supports tri-band GSM with EDGE. One thing that I love the phone is the screen. With its TFT, 16 million colors display, watching mobile TV using DVB-H technology on this phone is like watching a DVD movie at your home’s TV screen.
With DVB-H technology, you could receive live TV broadcast on your mobile phone similar to a normal TV broadcast and this differs from the normal mobile TV via 3G or EDGE. The phone supports up to 50 channels including TV and radio, this means that you would be able to watch all your favorite ASTRO channels on this phone, but that really depends on the mobile operator offering the DVB-H service.
The phone weights only 114g, it offers Push-to-Talk, and has a 2 mega-pixel camera for taking pictures. A secondary camera is available for video call. Don’t expect high quality pictures from these camera as they are ordinary ones.
With its stereo speakers, watching mobile TV and listening radio on this phone produce loud stereo sound. Of course, it is not louder than your TV or radio speakers.
The phone has a 20MB of shared memory. To extend the capacity, a MicroSD card slot is available near the charging port and the Pop-port USB at the bottom of the phone.
Many phones in the market are capable of HSDPA, I wonder why Nokia did not include it on the N77. As one of the new member of Nseries, the N77 offers rich multimedia function. The phone stands out from most of the other phones in the market with its mobile TV feature. It is a phone that you must have.
The Nokia N77 is powered by Symbian 9.2, S60 3rd edition. It is currently available in Malaysia at the price of RM1,999.
Note: Although I have reviewed phones before, its my first time to review a phone on Telco Talk Malaysia. Soon, review on U Mobile’s services especially DVB-H on Telco Talk Malaysia
