Corporate Restructuring in U Mobile

U Mobile, the third 3G operator in Malaysia is undergoing some corporate changes now.

It is confirmed that it’s Executive Director,Kenneth Chang Yit Fei will no longer involve in U Mobile’s day to day business.

What is surprising, barely 3 months after the appointment of its new CEO Yun Hae-Jung, U Mobile now has appointed a new CEO again as it is believed that Mr.Yun Hae-Jung, who is not that old, resigned due to “health” problems.

The new CEO of U Mobile is Oh Kwang-Jin however Telco Talk Malaysia was not informed about his appointment, so I am not sure whether he is originated from the same company as Yun Hae-Jung, since 2 foreign companies has a joint 33% stake in U Mobile.

However, I believe the peoples from the earlier appointments remains in U Mobile including chief marketing officer Keisuke Yoshizawa who is from Japan’s NTT DoCoMo Inc., new chief technology officer Choi Kab Ryeol and chief strategy and planning officer Jason Lee Dong Ik from KTF, which is named in the Guiness Book of Records for having acquired the most number of subscribers in the shortest span of time.

Only time will tell whether U Mobile will live up to its promises as being a “consumer centric” brand or it will be just another company of the Berjaya Group of companies.
