I am currently trying out the U Mobile Prepaid plan and I have to say that the 1 second billing do make a big difference especially when you are making a few seconds call.
I also find their customer service friendly. I dropped the call while waiting for the U Mobile customer service representative to pick up, about 3 minutes later someone from customer service called me back. This is world class customer service although I doubt things won’t be the same when they start gaining more customers.
U Mobile is offering 20% more airtime when you top up. Also for every RM10 used, you get 10 free SMS. As for MNP, U Mobile will give you a free starter with RM10 credit preloaded if your porting process fails. Read more here.
You can also use U Mobile on 2G phones since U Mobile has domestic roaming agreement with Celcom. I have not experienced any problems using U Mobile on a 2G phone(Celcom) and the only downside is you can’t use GPRS or 3G on Celcom network.
Note that the prepaid starter pack is free with a RM10 top up and you must use the top up within 7 days, if not, you will loose the number.

Last Friday, U Mobile has just launched free calls and 1 sen per SMS within their network.-Full report
It only crossed the 100,000 subscribers mark last July and now it is offering free calls within the network. I wonder how this is going to effect their ARPU.
Anyway, I better start enjoying my free calls now before it is too late.
