Femtocell in Malaysia

Our neighbour has recently launched Femtocell.

Starhub is offering the Home Zone service for S$10.62(about RM40) with a 1 year contract. Sadly, Starhub Home Zone customers will still be paying for data browsing chargers while they are in their own Home Zone network, with their own unlimited internet connection.

With femtocell, you can set up your own base station at home or office using your broadband connection, thus improving indoor cellular signal.

Maxis plans to trial the service in Malaysia, while Celcom might do the same. If our MVNO operators are smart and brave enough, they can also use Femtocell to offer VAS services.
