Kuala lumpur – Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (“P1”), Malaysia’s first and leading WiMAX telco, has been awarded the Best Startup Company of The Year 2009 by the MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA).
The MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA), under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, provides a platform to stimulate creativity, innovation and excellence in ICT in Malaysia, benchmark Malaysian ICT products and solutions, and to recognise outstanding achievements in the ICT Industry.
“This year has been quite a journey for us – exciting and rewarding. Today, slightly more than a year after our grand launch, P1 W1MAX is the number 1 WiMAX telco in the county and the region. We are very proud of this APICTA award, as it validates our past and future efforts to make a difference in the lives of as many Malaysians as possible” said Michael Lai, CEO of Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.
“Great success always asks for the same essential ingredients. These ingredients include having an important mission and having a smart and talented team who firmly believes in that mission and never settles for anything but the best. Therefore, this outstanding achievement belongs to all of us. It belongs to the Packeteers, our valued customers and business partners who believe in our “Broadband for All” mission. Kudos to all Packeteers who have put your hearts, passion, talent and hard work towards realizing this common mission”, Lai added.
P1’s goal is to bridge the digital divide by making access to the Internet universal, ubiquitous and affordable for every Malaysian. P1 hopes to play a major part in realizing the nation’s goal – to have 50% household broadband penetration by 2010. In 2008, P1 was awarded the Red Herring’s Top 100 Asia Most Innovative Private Technology Company, Malaysia Book of Records’ 1st WiMAX† Telco, and WiMAX Forum’s 2.3Ghz Lead Telco that validate the companies efforts so far and keep it gunning for more.
In its efforts to continue their rollout and expansion, P1 challenged the Malaysian broadband landscape with the “Cut Now” campaign. Launched in late September 2009, it was to mark the beginning of the second phase of its subscriber acquisition strategy, which features groundbreaking and innovative P1 W1MAX customer packages and unique marketing programs. During its first commercial launch, P1 won over the early majority for its WiMAX broadband service.
The “Cut Now” campaign kicks off with the first initiative called “Promo M”, which invites all non-P1 W1MAX broadband users to bring their current broadband bill to sign up for P1 W1MAX service. Those subscribers will enjoy the RM160 registration and activation fees waiver and complimentary 1st month of service (provided they meet the stipulated terms and conditions).
