Well, looks like DiGi is moving out from the telecommunication business to become an online store.
What is DiGi Online Store?
DiGi Online Store @ shop.digi.com.my is an online store provided by DiGi to offers customer a convenient, hassle free online shopping experience with free doorstep delivery.
At the moment, DiGi only sells prepaid SIM pack, prepaid Internet SIM pack and handphones on its Online Store.
Payments options:
- Credit Card: Amex, Diners, JCB or any credit card support by PayPal.
- Direct Debit (charge through your saving and current account): CIMB, Maybank2U
Customers who purchase at the Online Store will only receive the product after 3 days, minimum.
And guess what, DiGi is using their standard helpline number(they call it “team of specialists”)- 016-221 1800 for inquires and support regarding purchases made on the Online Store. Smart DiGi. Looks like DiGi customers will have to wait longer before a customer service representative picks up the call at 016-221 1800. Also, their customer service team has a lot more to improve, asking them to handle DiGi Online Store will only slow down the process.
As a Telecommunication provider, there are a lot more things to focus, fix and improve. I think DiGi should just focus on improving their network and expand their 3G coverage. If DiGi is serious in doing something like this, they should just partner with existing local online stores(there are a few out there in Malaysia). These online stores already have existing team(experienced), systems and billing to handle online purchases.
If not I think DiGi is wasting time, just like the MySimplifieds project.
Good luck DiGi!
