Last week, YTL Communications Sdn. Bhd (YTL Comms) signed a collaboration agreement with Intel Malaysia which allowed Intel WiMAX laptops sold by P1 and its partners to work on YTL WiMAX network as well.

Via this signing, all laptops with the Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 embedded solution will work in the upcoming YTL WiMAX network.

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 July 2010 – Signaling the readiness of its nationwide 4G network, which will be commercially launched in Q4 of this year, YTL Communications Sdn. Bhd (YTL Comms) today signed a collaboration agreement with Intel Malaysia to deliver superior 4G experience on its network to all Malaysians.
YTL Comms has an innovative lineup of 4G devices, which will be made available at the commercial launch. With this partnership, however, the power of YTL Comms 4G network opens up to a whole new range of consumer devices, such as Intel’s WiMAX-ready netbooks and laptops, scheduled to be available soon after. This collaboration will include interoperability tests on YTL Comms 4G network by Intel to enable compatibility with Intel’s WiMAX/WiFi wireless chipset.

Working closely with OEMs, Intel is providing embedded WiMAX laptops based on Intel® Core™ processors and Intel® Atom™ processors, and featuring the dual-mode Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 embedded solution to enable mobile WiMAX broadband Internet access, which will be certified and ready for use on the YTL Comms’ 4G network.
