KUALA LUMPUR, 21 SEPTEMBER 2010 – Celcom Axiata Berhad [formerly known as Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad] will introduce the micro SIM in October at all Celcom branches and selected Blue Cube centres. Devices in the market that currently use the micro SIM are the iPhone 4 and the iPad 3G.
“With the arrival of devices that utilise a micro SIM, we want to ensure that our customers have the best possible user experience, whatever device they may be using,” said Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, Celcom’s Chief Executive Officer. “We do not want anyone to miss out on enjoying all the advantages of Malaysia’s no.1 mobile broadband network,” he added.
The micro SIM, measuring 15mm in width and 12mm in height is smaller than the standard SIM card (25mm in width and 15mm in height). Starting from 1 October, Celcom customers will be able to walk into any Celcom branch and selected Blue Cube outlets and exchange their standard SIM card with a micro SIM for a nominal fee of RM10. Customers subscribing to a new mobile broadband plan can also select a micro SIM instead of the standard SIM.
Celcom’s mobile broadband plans are available from as low as RM38 a month for existing postpaid customers, while adhoc prepaid and postpaid users can get broadband access at only RM6 per day.
