Good news for those who frequently travel between Malaysia & Singapore. After 2-years of negotiation, both Government have agreed on a plan to lower mobile roaming charges between 2 countries.

Singapore Information, Communications and Arts Minister Lui Tuck Yew confirmed that the roaming call rates will be reduced by up to 30%, while that for SMS will be cut by up to 50%.

At the moment, Celcom Postpaid customers who call back Malaysia using M1 network in Singapore will be charged 99sen per minute while each SMS cost 98sen. Daily unlimited data is charged RM38 per day.

While on Maxis & DiGi, calling back Malaysia from Singapore will cost RM2.50 per minute.

The new rates will be decided by March 2011.
