7 new premium channels on HyppTV

TM has added 7 new premium channels & 5 new Video On Demand (VOD) categories to HyppTV; set to be available in June 2011. HyppTV now has a total of 44 channels – 15 free channels, 29 premium channels, 14 VOD categories and 11 interactive applications.

The new HyppTV premium channels are: Al Jazeera, tvN HD, Nat Geo Adventure HD, Nat Geo Music, Syfy HD, SS Music and EMAS., Whilst the new VOD categories are: Series – Malaysian Package, Knowledge – Nature Package, Kids – Dino, Kids – Animasi and Kids – Galaxy.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has announced the addition of seven (7) new premium channels, five (5) new Video On Demand (VOD) categories and two (2) new interactive applications to Malaysia’s newest Pay TV service – HyppTV; set to be available in June 2011. With this, HyppTV’s current line up is now a total of 44 channels – 15 free channels, 29 premium channels, 14 VOD categories and 11 interactive applications.

The new premium channels are: Al Jazeera, tvN HD, Nat Geo Adventure HD, Nat Geo Music, Syfy HD, SS Music and EMAS., Whilst the new VOD categories are: Series – Malaysian Package, Knowledge – Nature Package, Kids – Dino, Kids – Animasi and Kids – Galaxy. The two new interactive applications are Youtube and Facebook. The announcement, as well as a showcase of the new channels, new VOD categories and interactive applications, was made at a media and bloggers session in Kuala Lumpur on 6 May 2011.

Jeremy Kung, Executive Vice President, New Media, TM who was present to unveil the new HyppTV content enthused that the new premium channels and the new VOD categories as well as the new interactive applications constitute another milestone in TM’s overall plan to progressively grow its HyppTV content offerings across a variety of genres and satisfy the diverse range of viewing preferences of our audience.

“We are very excited about these additions because we believe they offer a unique niche for discerning customers out there. Our network and reach are growing very fast, and the more customers we have, the more diverse our programming becomes. Because we are flexible, we are able to cater to a larger audience with varying tastes in programme consumption. In line with our efforts to play a significant role in facilitating the digital lifestyle of Malaysians, HyppTV allows viewers to enjoy entertainment options and other content through ways that go beyond their normal TV viewing experience. The HyppTV viewing experience will influence and guide our customers’ perspective on their content choices and options in the future.”

The seven new channels are premium channels that can be purchased by HyppTV subscribers on an ‘ala carte’ basis. The new channels offer a variety of broadcast content: from global news on Al Jazeera, music entertainment on Nat Geo Music and South India’s SS Music channel, Korean content on tvN HD , and education on Nat Geo Adventure HD. Subscription prices for the new premium channels range from as low as RM3 per month to RM9 per month.

The new VOD categories offer subscribers wholesome family packages from local drama to documentaries and cartoons. All these are priced from RM8 per package with a viewing period of up to 30 days.

HyppTV also expands its services to offer YouTube and Facebook browsing on its Interactive applications which is available for free on the platform.

The new premium channel announcement was made in conjunction with the first anniversary celebrations of UniFi, which has exceeded expectations by reaching close to 80,000 subscribers to date.
