Sony Devices to come bundle with TM Broadband

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic collaboration.

Among the collaboration include product bundling that combines TM services and Sony devices; utilizing both TM’s and Sony’s sales channels to sell products and services; collaboration and participation in events, branding and sponsorship activities; and collaboration in regards to loyalty programmes of both TM and Sony Malaysia.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further extend and enrich the strategic collaboration between the two leading brands in their respective industries.

At the ceremony, TM was represented by Imri Mokhtar, Executive Vice-President, Consumer, TM, while Sony was represented by Hiroyasu Sugiyama, Managing Director of Sony Malaysia. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Rozalila Abdul Rahman, Chief Marketing Officer, TM and Masaki Matsumae, Deputy General Manager of Sony Malaysia as well as the senior management of TM and Sony Malaysia.

TM and Sony have been collaborating in various areas and initiatives and with this MoU, the partnership will be further extended. Among the initiatives include product bundling that combines TM services and Sony devices; utilizing both TM’s and Sony’s sales channels to sell products and services; collaboration and participation in events, branding and sponsorship activities; and collaboration in regards to loyalty programmes of both TM and Sony Malaysia.

In his speech, Imri thanked Sony for the strategic partnership opportunity and expounded on the potential and benefits stemming from the collaboration.

“Since early last year, TM and Sony have been collaborating in several areas with regards to event and sponsorship activities. Moving forward, TM is glad to further extend the collaboration to include other initiatives that will bring mutual benefits to both companies and ultimately, our customers. As Malaysia’s Broadband Champion, TM currently has 1.7 million customers subscribing to our Streamyx service and our UniFi high-speed broadband service has attracted more than 70,000 customers. This represents the potential customers who can benefit from the collaboration and it augurs well for strengthening the brand presence of both companies in the market.”

Following the MoU, several collaboration projects are currently in the pipeline. TM and Sony Malaysia are exploring attractive broadband packages to be bundled with the latest Sony devices which will be rolled out in a matter of time. TM is also equipping 14 Sony outlets in Klang Valley with UniFi services and in return, Sony will be providing TM with its latest ICT equipment and appliances at TM sales outlets and key events. Malaysian users can soon expect both TM and Sony Malaysia, as the ideal partners to offer total entertainment and information network for best BRAVIA Internet experience

“Joining hands with TM, Malaysia’s broadband champion, is a strategic move for Sony, reinforcing the company’s commitment towards offering wider and reliable digital entertainment solutions to consumers. From access to online video content to the immersive 3D features, Sony’s BRAVIATM television redefines the form and function of television to deliver a complete entertainment experience with excellent picture quality through the X-Reality picture engine. Amongst the 24 new BRAVIA models launched in February this year, 20 are internet capable models. These internet models, when connected to the Internet, serve as a gateway to enormous and dynamic world of contents including movies, video and music services. The state-of-the-art X-Reality Picture Engine also ensures high picture quality for user-generated Internet Video content. With over 70 Sony branded outlets nationwide showcasing extensive product displays and setup, as well as the various consumer activities from Sony and TM in the pipeline, the collaboration with TM will further enhanced the Sony unified networked experience through various Sony products, best matched with the seamless high speed connection offered through UniFi,” explained Hiroyasu Sugiyama.
