Big players in the telecommunications industry have been urged to intensify collaboration with the smaller content and applications companies in Malaysia in order to make broadband services for the people more meaningful.
Content and applications are the keys in broadband services as these are what customers will eventually use and see and not the technology, said Information, Communication and Culture Deputy Minister, Datuk Joseph Salang in his speech at the launch of Huawei Broadband Transformation Summit 2011, here Monday.
“Broadband cannot just be for higher and higher speeds, but must transform the people’s lives,” he said.
Malaysia is placing strong emphasis on the development of the broadband communications sector to create a tangible and positive impact on the country’s Gross Domectic Product (GDP), and has been among the early countries to recognise this with the creation of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) in 1996, he said.
