China based ZTE has launched 7 new Android powered devices in Malaysia.
The 7 new devices are- Smartphone (Blade, Racer, Mini Racer and Skate), Tablet PCs (Light V9+, Light V9C and Light V8). 4 mobile broadband devices were also announced including MF60, MF668A, MF680 and MF23.
No pricing detail were revealed and ZTE or Dancom(its official distributor) did not reveal its go-to-market strategy in the consumer market.

8th June 2011, Kuala Lumpur –ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) a public-listed leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced its smart terminal development strategy globally and in partnership with its distributor, Dancom Telecommunications (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, an important market for the brand. Dancom, a 26-year old company in Malaysia with more than 10,000 dealers network nationwide, is a strategic partner for ZTE in Malaysia – a good collaborative alliance between China and Malaysia.
ZTE is targeting to enter the world’s manufacturer list at top three for tablet PC, top five for Android smart phones. In this regard, Malaysia is considered as a key market to execute the ZTE’s smart terminal development strategy.
To kick start the smart terminal development strategy in Malaysia, ZTE on its international campaign – “Light your smart world” plans to launch three series of star products under three categories- for personal, home and office use.7 new smart devices: smartphones with Blade, Racer, Mini Racer and Skate,its Android smart phones in Malaysia,;Tablet PC with Light V9+, Light V9C and Light V8. Besides,ZTE also launches series of mobile broadband devices as the smartmate including MF60 MF668A MF680 and MF23.
Malaysian android mobile phone enthusiasts will be excited about the smartphones Racer, Blade and Skate to be launched in Malaysia, beginning June. ZTE’s smart phone Blade has won many awards in Europe, including UK Smartphone Essentials as “Best Smartphone”, Sunday Times UK granting it the “Best Buy” award and PC World magazine (Greece) awarding it as “Editor’s Choice”, to name a few.
At today’s official launch ceremony of the smart devices and the announcement of ZTE’s smart terminal development strategy by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Joseph Salang Anak Gandum, the Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, ZTE’s top industry partners in Mlaysia were present at the event, showing their long-term support for strengthening smart terminal strategy with innovation and personalized smart terminal devices for the global market.
Mr Forest Huang Zheng, President of ZTE Malaysia said: “ZTE specially considers Malaysia as a high potential market for ZTE’s execution of its smart terminal development strategy. Previously, through mobile phone distributors, many ZTE’s products have appeared in Malaysia and attracted extensive customer attention.”
“From now on, we will directly offer our customers the best products with ZTE brand via Dancom Telecommunications (M) Sdn Bhd, our official distributor, and its extensive and professional distribution network. ZTE is introducing all product lines including basic, mid-level and high-end series which is set to soon penetrate and cover a large market share in Malaysia,” he added.
According to the latest Gartner Report, global shipment of smart phones will reach 470 million in 2011. Based on that fact, and on the expansion of the delivery system, ZTE sets a goal to sell 12 million smart phones (including tablet pc) in 2011.
