Ex-Alcatel-Lucent employee charged in Telekom Malaysia Bribery

Former Alcatel Network Systems Sdn Bhd customer account leader Radziah Ani, 49, was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today with allegedly bribing Telekom Malaysia (TM) assistant manager Mohd Asri Idris for RM25,000 in 2006.

She pleaded not guilty to the chargers.

Radziah who has a Master of Science in Communication Engineering worked at TM since 1989 for 7 years before joining Alcatel-Lucent in April 2004. Before Alcatel-Lucent, she was at Siemens and Motorola as account manager/director for TM.

Currently Radziah Ani is the Deputy Country Manager, Sales & Marketing at ZTE Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd.

If convicted, Radziah faces 20 years’ jail and a fine of not less than five times the amount of the bribe, or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

In March, Axiata Group Bhd(Celcom) and Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) have barred Alcatel-Lucent from participating in tenders, contracts or joint ventures for a year following the call from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
