Cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 within “Weeks”

Apple could be manufacturing a cheaper version of the hot-selling iPhone 4, according to reports. The 8GB iPhone 4 is expected to be cheaper and expected to launch within weeks.

Reuters reported that Asian suppliers to Apple Inc have begun manufacturing the 8GB iPhone 4 but the source declined to name the companies involved. Currently, Apple’s flash drives are made by Japan’s Toshiba and South Korea’s Samsung Electronics. All companies declined to comment.

Another source claims that Apple is targeting end-September for the launch of iPhone 5.

The existing iPhone 4 was first launched in June 2010 with 16 GB and 32 GB versions, with a white version added to the lineup in April.
