Flash coming to iPhone & iPad, thanks to Adobe

Flash contents can now be delivered to Apple iPhone & iPad, thanks to Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.

Although users may not enjoy a “full flash experience”, for now, Adobe’s solution allows Flash content to be repackaged and streamed to iOS devices and other platforms, without the need to instal Flash on the device.

Accessing Flash content through the new Media Server doesn’t require users to go through the Safari mobile browser, which still does not support Flash. Instead, content providers will be able to deliver Flash content to iPhones and iPads using HTTP Live Streaming, the protocol that Apple developed to let content providers “send live or pre-recorded audio and video to iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Mac, using an ordinary web server.”

In other words, Adobe’s solution repackages content in real-time, changing the protocol to suit the target device, works without degrading performance of the processor and the battery life.
