Green Packet to offer WiMAX in Singapore

Green Packet Berhad said that it obtained a WiMAX license from the Singapore Government recently however the company will only start operation sometime in 2013 says group managing director, CC Puan.

“We already have the license to operate there,” he said, adding that the company however will not rush the business there.

“We want to establish the business for 4G here in Malaysia and then start the operations in the neighbouring country,” he added.

Green Packet which owns about 59% of Packet One Networks (P1) is set to venture into Sabah by end of this year while Sarawak is targeted next year.

Currently, P1 has some 50% WiMAX coverage in Peninsular Malaysia with a total subscribers of 338,000 as of June 30, 2011.
