MalaysianWireless was lucky enough to play with Siri on the Apple iPhone 4S. The unit was obtained via a Singaporean telco(we can’t tell you) and tested using a Maxis micro Sim.
(It wasn’t easy for us to obtain the unit considering Singapore hasn’t launch it yet plus our local Telcos are quiet about the iPhone 4S. We want to thank the person who allowed us to play with the iPhone 4S unit, you know who you are!)
As we had limited time, Siri on the iPhone 4S was put to a simple test with questions related to Malaysia. We encountered some problems when Siri was set to English (United States, Female voice) as it did not understand most of the questions. However it worked better when used English (United Kingdom, Male voice).
A number of things also don’t work with Siri while used in Malaysia. For an example, you can’t ask Siri to find the nearest Restaurant or detect your current location etc.
We are trying hard to get more details on availability and pricing of the iPhone 4S in Malaysia(DiGi, Maxis, Celcom, U Mobile). Stay tuned for that.
In the mean time, below are some of the questions that we asked Siri and the response(apologies for the shaky video):
iPhone 4S Siri- Google Search PM of Malaysia
iPhone 4S Siri- Search Celcom
iPhone 4S Siri- Search for DiGi
iPhone 4S Siri- Google Search Maxis
iPhone 4S Siri- Search for Kuala Lumpur
iPhone 4S Siri-Search TheStar
iPhone 4S Siri- Apple stock
iPhone 4S Siri- Weather in Kuala Lumpur
iPhone 4S Siri- Weather in Penang-Petaling Jaya
iPhone 4S Siri- Weather in Singapore
iPhone 4S Siri-Square root of 99
What questions would you ask Siri?
