Maxis Acknowledge Attack on its Website, Issues Statement

Maxis has acknowledge the attack on its website(Maxis.com.my). Earlier this week, it was reported on MalaysianWireless.com that the Maxis website was breached and the intruders(GaySec) claim that they have access to the Maxis customer database.

Below is a statement from Maxis regarding the attack on its website:

We are aware of a recent incident affecting the Maxis website. We view this matter seriously and have taken immediate action to rectify the situation. Customers with enquiries may contact 1800 821 123 or customercare@maxis.com.my.

MalaysianWireless has question the measures taken to prevent any future attack and if the intruders had any access to the Maxis/Hotlink customer database. Maxis responded as below.

At Maxis, we treat all security incidents very seriously.  To the best of our knowledge, there are no indications to show that customer information was compromised. We have always taken necessary security precautions and are continuously reviewing our security systems and improving security measures and processes.
