The just-announced Motorola RAZR will be available in Malaysia later this year.
The RAZR, originally a flip phone, sold over 130 million units worldwide in a five year period from 2004-2008. But the new RAZR is completely different in terms of design and has more advance features.
The new RAZR is also known as Motorola DROID RAZR in the US. It features a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, covered with Gorilla Glass display on a very slim and lightweight Kevlar-infused body, making it the thinnest smartphone in the world at 7.1mm. It also comes with water repellent nanocoating that protects the phone against water spills.
The device is powered by a OMAP 4430 chipset with a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and 1GB of RAM. Onboard storage is 16GB expandable via a microSD card up to 32GB.
There is a 8-megapixel image sensor bearing HD camera at the back. It comes with 1080p HD video recording capability and image stabilization technology for clear and crisp imagery. Besides that, this LTE/3G smartphone contains GPS chip, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi support.
The Motorola RAZR is the first phone to be pre-loaded with the company’s new Smart Actions app, described as a way to “automate daily tasks” and improve battery life. As an example, you can use the Smart Actions app to make the RAZR launch the music app every time you plug in your headphones, or turn on Wi-Fi when you get to work.
The new RAZR is expected to go on sale worldwide some time in November, although Verizon in the US will start accepting pre-orders on October 27(Optus Australia starting 24 Oct). In Malaysia, Motorola distributor(Brighstar) said that the new Motorola RAZR will be available in Malaysia later this year.
