Future Nokia Window Phone 7 phones will be powered by ST-Ericsson’s NovaThor U9500, U8500 and U5500 chipsets. All three chipsets offers dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processors, NEON CPU extensions, ARM Mali 400 graphic cores and LP-DDR2 RAM.
The U8500 and U9500 platforms support up to 1080p video recording, dual cameras(20MP & 5MP), support resolutions up to 1280×768 pixels on a single display or 1024×760 pixels simultaneously on two displays. The cheaper U5500 chip supports 720p video recording, 12MP camera, HDMI and 854×480 pixels display.
The Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia Lumia 710 are both powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. It is most likely Nokia will use both Qualcomm and ST-Ericsson chips in future Windows Phone 7 Nokia smartphones.
