The Android operating system appears to be doing very well. Back in December 2010, we reported that over 300k Android devices are activated a day, a year later, there are over 700,000 Android devices activated everyday.
According to Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President of Mobile at Google, the activations are counted when a new Android phone is activated for the very 1st time.
“..For those wondering, we count each device only once (ie, we don’t count re-sold devices), and “activations” means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.” he said.
Looks like it will take a few months more before Google Android hit the 1 million mark.
