There is a lot of restructuring going on right now at Sony Ericsson since Sony announced that it is buying out the shares of Ericsson in the company back in October.
Among the new changes include changing the Sony Ericsson name to simply “Sony” by mid-2012.
“A lot of planning goes into getting the branding right but we will be done by middle of next year. It will also mean that the marketing and advertising investments will go up. We haven’t been as fierce as we were a few years back but we will step it up, refocus and invest more in brand-building in select markets and India is one of those markets,” said Kristian Tear, executive VP & head of sales & marketing, Sony Ericsson.
In October, Sony said it will acquire Ericsson’s 50 percent stake in Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB for EUR 1.05 billion, making the mobile handset business a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony.
