Research In Motion (RIM) has established a local entity in Malaysia to further develop its business within the country, in line with the growing popularity and success of the BlackBerry platform.
Research In Motion Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the local entity, will provide carrier and distributor partners throughout Malaysia with sales and marketing support. The office is located at Menara Milenium, Pusat Bandar Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.
The local team will be led by Annamalai Muthu, Country Director for Malaysia and Brunei. As a Country Director, Muthu will not just be leading the team to support key carrier and distribution partners but will continue building the local team to support the growing brand presence in Malaysia.
“Establishing a local entity is a milestone for us and it is our way of showcasing the long-term commitment and investment we have lined up for Malaysia. We are excited of growing our team locally, whilst having the brand grow exponentially here in Malaysia,” said Muthu, “It is our aim to continue increasing accessibility for the BlackBerry brand across Malaysia.”
RIM said the new office will work closely with local mobile operators including Celcom, DiGi, Maxis, Tune Talk and U Mobile.
