TM Media Delivery Service in collaboration with Octoshape

Telekom Malaysia(TM) unveiled its TM Media Delivery Service (TM MDS) in collaboration with Octoshape, a global streaming technology company.

The Octoshape’s InfiniteHD platform is equipped with patented resiliency, network efficiency and throughput technologies to deliver the highest quality video without buffering. The portfolio of services rolled out by TM includes both Octoshape’s video-on-demand services as well as its proven live video streaming services.

TM MDS will allow viewers to enjoy a whole new viewing experience with the following benefits:

  • Highest Scale – TM MDS adopts the same suite of multicast technologies that supported uninterrupted Live Internet streaming to over one million concurrent users in 200 countries.
  • Global Streaming – State-of-the-art next generation Content Delivery Network (CDN) technology highlights throughput and resiliency features that are less susceptible to latency and packet loss. This allows smooth global streaming regardless of distance between the end-users and the servers.
  • Multi-format and Player Integration – With TM MDS, integrating formats and players is easy. Standard encoders and players like Flash and Windows are supported across multiple browsers and operating systems.
  • Longer Viewer Times – TM MDS takes care of the entire streaming process, from encoding to playback. Its ability to sustain higher bit rates can provide double the viewing time of other streaming technologies.

The collaboration with Octoshape will allow TM to offer an excellent viewing experience over the Internet, supported by HD features, targeting international media broadcasters from South East Asia and North Asia, and also local media broadcasters.  Regardless of where the broadcasters content are hosted, TM MDS via Octoshape will provide superior viewing experiences either live or recorded, with no buffering.
