The Sony Xperia S appears to be getting some attention recently and so we’ve decided to run this story. It will be available at the Retail Price(RRP) of RM1899 in Malaysia starting Friday.
It has been widely reported online that DiGi, Maxis, Celcom & U Mobile would offer the Sony Xperia S in Malaysia however we are afraid that DiGi may not be in a better position to offer the new device.
It is believed that DiGi violated Sony’s policy by unveiling their contract plans for the Xperia S ahead the official launch date scheduled this coming Thursday. We think that DiGi is subject to be “punished” with a delayed shipment or they may not get to offer the Sony Xperia S at all. Unsurprisingly it is not a first time for DiGi to do so as they violated Apple’s iPhone policy as well.
The DiGi Sony Xperia S plans have been removed from their website however a copy of it can still be found here(link).
We believe that the other operators such as Celcom, Maxis & U Mobile have obeyed the rules set by Sony and will be offering the Sony Xperia S starting Friday.

The Sony Xperia S should also be available via authorized Sony Ericsson dealers nationwide starting Friday at the RRP.
[Update 1, 3pm March 15]- Sony Mobile Communications confirmed with MalaysianWireless that DiGi will offer the Sony Xperia S.
[Update 2, 9.30pm March 15]- Nationwide availability is March 21 via dealers.
