P1 HSBB will available in Klang Valley end of this month

P1’s high speed broadband service(HSBB) running on Fibre will be available sometime the end of this month.

Revealing its 2.0 Evolution Plan at the P1(Packet One) headquarters today, CEO Michael Lai said that the HSBB service will be available to consumers in the Klang Valley sometime this month.

Responding to a question from MalaysianWireless, Michael said that the P1 HSBB service will come bundle with P1’s 4G WiMAX service. Similar to P1’s ONE plan, the new Fibre packages will include fixed broadband for home use and wireless for users on-the-go.

As a result of P1’s partnership with TM last year, the P1 Fibre Optics service will be offered at areas where TM’s HSBB /UniFi service are available in the Klang Valley.

Fibre service are not cheap in the market. Currently TM offers its UniFi service from RM149 a month with speeds starting from 5Mbps up to 20Mbps. In comparison, Maxis Home Fibre service starts from RM128 a month for the 4Mbps packages up to RM398 a month for the 30Mbps package.

As for its WiMAX service, P1 said that it plans to increase the number of its base station from 1500 now to 2300 by the end of this year. The WiMAX operator also said that it will roll out its TD-LTE(4G) network in 2013 using the 2.3Ghz and 2.6Ghz spectrum. It will continue to retain its WiMAX network until 2015 while it migrate all its WiMAX customers to LTE. With the upgrade to LTE, P1 could offer wireless speeds from 150Mbps up to 1Gbps.
